Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of blood and other medical specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review laboratory schedules and resolve or verify orders in the electronic medical record
  • Accurately identify patients and records by name and date of birth
  • Explain the phlebotomy process and reassure patients and their families
  • Perform venipuncture and finger sticks as ordered
  • Capture and report important medical data to nurses and providers
  • Respond quickly to syncopal episodes and notify nurses and providers
  • Process, package, and store specimens for courier pickup or mailing
  • Order and maintain adequate laboratory supplies
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to infection control and quality assurance standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of best practice guidelines and proficiency in the safe handling of technical devices
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and automobile insurance
