Job Title: Electrician Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Electrician Assistant to join our team at TransForce. As an Electrician Assistant, you will assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical wiring, conduits, fixtures, appliances, and related apparatus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrically operated equipment and appliances.
  • Assist Sr. Electricians and other electricians in the repair and modification of complex control circuits.
  • Replace defective wiring, switches, heating elements, and fuses.
  • Install lighting fixtures and power outlets.
  • Use multimeters to verify the availability of adequate electrical power to operate equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrically operated equipment.
  • Install fixtures, outlets, and switches.
  • Cut, thread, and bend conduit and pull wire through conduit.
  • Replace defective wiring.
  • Replace faulty electrical components.
  • Make minor repairs to equipment.
  • Drive automobiles, vans, and trucks to travel to job sites and to transport tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Climb ladders to perform electrical work at heights.
  • Bend, stoop, and crawl to perform electrical work in crawl spaces and similar areas.
  • Record and maintain accurate records of work performed, time, and materials used.
  • Use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Read blueprints, plans, and schematic drawings.
  • Follow safety procedures and electrical codes.
  • Communicate appropriately and frequently with faculty, school administrators, supervisor/manager(s), and other employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of professional electrical experience as a registered apprentice.
  • Must be a registered electrical apprentice for the State of Maryland or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid class C Maryland driver's license or an equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of commercial electrical work.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials used in electrical repair, maintenance, and installation.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
  • Skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrically operated equipment and appliances.
  • Skill in installing and repairing electrical circuitry and electrical components.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting electrical codes, blueprints, plans, and schematics.
  • Skill in the operation of tools and equipment used in the installation, testing, and repair of electrical equipment, circuitry, and components.
Working Conditions:
  • The work of this class entails heavy physical labor including frequent walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, bending, digging, lifting, and carrying objects of moderate to heavy weight.
  • Works in confined spaces in proximity to loud machinery, frequently requires accessing and positioning oneself to reach limited access spaces including but not limited to crawl spaces, roofs, trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.
  • Recognizes exposure to live circuits and/or operating machinery in adverse weather conditions and travel to sites throughout Baltimore County.
