Immunology Research Scientist

Stanford University is seeking an experienced Immunologist to join our team as a Life Science Research Professional 2. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology, with expertise in analyzing cell signaling pathways and gene expression. They will work independently with minimal supervision, conducting complex experiments and interpreting results to contribute to ongoing projects in the lab.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent research projects, making recommendations on experimental design and research direction to the principal investigator.
- Interpret and analyze results, often where few guidelines exist, and make modifications to existing procedures and protocols.
- Develop new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams across different faculties or schools.
- Contribute substantively to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section, and to publication of findings.
- A Ph.D. or M.D. degree with at least 3 years of relevant postdoctoral research experience in academia and/or industry.
- A strong background in immunology, in vitro and in vivo analysis of TCR and cytokine signaling, in vivo mouse tumor models, and preferably some experience with protein biochemistry, phospho-flow.
- May require working in close proximity to blood borne pathogens.
- May require work in an environment where animals are used for teaching and research.
- Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
