**Job Title:** Steam Fireman
**Job Summary:** Wheaton College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Steam Fireman to join our facilities team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating the College's boilers, district steam systems, and associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain all boilers, systems, and associated equipment, including changing burners, taking on fuel deliveries, and performing water treatment testing.
- Stand watch on assigned shifts during the heating season and day shifts during summer break.
- Take and record data such as temperature, pressure, and level, and determine if data is within operating range and take appropriate actions as necessary.
- Maintain all boilers, pumps, valves, and other equipment in all condensate, feedwater, steam, fuel oil, natural gas, and related systems.
- Ensure that all areas and equipment are kept clean and fully functional.
- Respond to emergencies, power failures, or other plant upsets in a safe and efficient manner.
- Exercise sound judgment when using equipment and chemicals, and follow and use approved safety standards and precautions.
- Operate college vehicles in a safe and reasonable manner.
- Massachusetts Second Class Fireman's License
- Preferred Qualifications: Massachusetts First Class Fireman's license
Wheaton College offers a competitive salary and benefits package to attract and retain the most talented individuals. The starting hourly rate for this position is $28/hr.
Physical Demands:The ability to stand on feet for long periods of time, climb and work off ladders, and lift more than 50 lbs is required for this position.
