Position Overview

UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION is seeking a motivated Process Automation Engineer to support our operations. This role is integral to our dynamic team focused on delivering innovative automation solutions.

This position involves working on both local and global initiatives, enhancing our strategy for designing and implementing comprehensive automated control systems for our processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance the performance of process automation for our assets, focusing on improvement projects, alarm management, and control loop optimization.
  • Develop control applications for various distributed control systems and create simulation applications for functionality verification and operator training.
  • Design, test, and implement Process Automation software and operator interfaces to meet established design criteria.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to execute projects, applying established methodologies and work processes.
  • Drive project execution within your discipline, ensuring project scope aligns with business needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of unit operations and Chemical Engineering principles.
  • Contribute to global project teams by designing and delivering Process Automation strategies and control code.
  • Engage in multi-functional and international teams, utilizing negotiation skills to achieve effective resolutions.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually, both domestically and internationally.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the United States is a prerequisite for this position.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with process control platforms such as ABB, Siemens, Emerson, and Honeywell.
  • Experience with polyethylene or catalyst technologies is advantageous.
