Job Summary

As a Quality Inspector at Syntec Optics, you will be responsible for conducting quality assurance audits and routine checks, tests, gauging, and instrument inspections of materials, work in process, and finished product. You will ensure that company and product standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. You will consult with the Quality Manager to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems and function as an information source to various company departments when special and critical quality issues occur.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine overall product quality by conducting and evaluating various visual and product tests for obvious defects.
  • Routinely complete and interpret inspection paperwork and blueprints, including GD&T.
  • Inspect incoming jobs from sub-contractors for quality and product integrity.
  • Perform in-process, first piece inspection, and first article using various measuring equipment.
  • Notify the Quality Manager when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are detected.
  • Ensure that all measuring equipment is calibrated within acceptable tolerances and time frame.
  • Assist in the development of special department projects and work in conjunction with the QA Manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • May cover for quality assurance personnel.
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • May work on special projects and various related assignments.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The noise level in the work environment may range from low, moderate to loud.

Requirements
  • Associates degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Minimum two years experience in quality control.
  • Experience with operating or programming a Sheffield or Zeiss CMM preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Must be familiar with computers and computer software.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
