Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at UNC Rex NC Surgery-Bariatrics. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to patients undergoing bariatric surgery and working with the Medical Obesity team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychological evaluations to assess patients' mental health status, history, and current concerns.
  • Develop and implement tailored treatment plans, including therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes, to address patients' mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and surgeons, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide ongoing therapy sessions, education, and support to patients and their families to help them manage their mental health effectively.
  • Document all evaluations, consultations, and follow-up services in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Current licensure as a Psychologist and eligibility to practice in the state of North Carolina or within three months of start date.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is highly preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of health psychology, bariatric medicine, eating disorders, and eating disturbances.
  • Excellent counseling skills and the ability to work with diverse patient populations.
