Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:
- Characterize the determinants of 53BP1 self-assembly to form DNA repair condensates in cancer cells.
- Perform microscopy and FACS based studies to quantify the condensation of 53BP1 and mutants that display assembly defects in vitro.
- Perform functional studies of non-homologous end-joining and DNA damage resolution in 53BP1-/- cell lines.
- Use biochemical reconstitution of purified fragments of 53BP1 C-terminus to identify the minimal regions required for phase separation.
- Work with collaborators to perform initial characterization of chromatin state in damaged cells, and to characterize LLPS of BRCA1 in homology directed repair.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience.
- Expertise in molecular biology, tissue culture, confocal microscopy, image analysis, protein expression and purification, and DNA damage-repair.
- Experience working with others on collaborative research projects.
