Role Summary:

The Lead Control Systems Engineer at MTI is responsible for the design, documentation, integration, and maintenance of electrical and software systems for custom-built Friction Welding Machines and standard robotic part handling automation.

In this role, you will collaborate with a cohesive team of engineers to develop electrical control schematics and programming logic essential for the efficient operation of friction welding machinery. A robust background in specialized machinery design and substantial experience with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical design documentation is required to effectively interpret control specifications from client requirements, formulate technical control specifications, and produce electrical wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Controls Engineers, Applications Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to devise diverse machine control system solutions for optimal Friction Welding operations.
  • Design, develop, and/or assess, code, test, and troubleshoot system software, including machine start-up and debugging processes.
  • Integrate and validate new product designs.
  • Support software quality assurance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hardware design and development teams.
  • Interpret control system requirements from client specifications and project scope documents.
  • Develop technical and electrical control system specifications.
  • Create machine sequence and control flow diagrams.
  • Design Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs for machine operation.
  • Develop robotic programming for material handling.
  • Generate design documentation, including operational theories, user manuals, setup instructions, and detailed technical specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to Service Technicians and clients as necessary.
  • Engage in the design, architecture, and programming standards of control applications, playing a pivotal role in enhancing existing designs.
  • Promote and uphold control programming standards, verification, and validation techniques.
