Job Title: Research Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Consultant to join our team at the University of Washington. As a Research Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the design, use, and manipulation of large participant survey and chemical analysis databases for data analyses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and operationalization of detailed statistical analysis plans to achieve project goals.
  • Comprehend and interpret complex data files, and complete complex statistical analysis of data using R (preferred), SAS, or STATA or other comparable statistical software.
  • Generate database queries/reports, and proactively manage databases and acquired data, ensuring accuracy of data and participating in quality control activities.
  • Assess and analyze project aims and milestone goals, and provide input in the development of appropriate work timelines based on available data.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Health Services, Public Policy, Social Work, or related field, and at least 2 years' experience in a related area or equivalent with at least one year of experience with data management, analysis, visualization, and report/manuscript authoring.
  • Experience with database management, and demonstrated ability to participate productively in interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude and ability to interpret complex analytic quantitative information, and experience with Tableau or similar online data visualization application.
  • Familiarity with HTML, and experience with scientific writing and interest in making significant content contributions to manuscripts and presentations.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Health Services, Public Policy, Social Work, or related field, and at least one year of experience with secondary analysis from existing large datasets.
  • Experience working with harm reduction programs or directly with people who use drugs, and experience working with epidemiological, public health, health care, or substance use data.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, and experience with R (preferred), SAS, STATA, or other statistical programming language.
