Job Summary

The Middlesex Corporation is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join our team in the heavy civil construction industry. As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to construct infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate cranes and other heavy equipment to construct infrastructure projects, including bridges, roads, and buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, including reporting accidents and near-misses.
  • Complete equipment condition reports and daily checklists to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Clean and maintain equipment regularly, including sweeping cabs and removing trash.
  • Understand and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Be responsible for your own safety and the safety of those working in the area.
  • Inform your supervisor of your equipment fuel status and request supplies as needed.
  • Read and understand load charts, plan and assist with critical lifts, and set up cranes for heavy lifts.
Requirements
  • Valid crane operator license for the State of Connecticut.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with pile driving, steel erection, and bridge construction.
  • Hydraulic and friction crane experience.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
Necessary Attributes
  • Ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with construction crews.
  • Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Dedicated and hard working.
