Hospital Director of Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospital Director to lead our veterinary hospital operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing service-oriented operations, with a proven track record of driving profitable growth and organizational development.
The Hospital Director will be responsible for overseeing the operational and financial management of the hospital, including managing finances and accounting, marketing, and promotion of services, staffing and human resources, and discretionary activities.
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams. They will also have a strong understanding of financial budget management, sales and marketing techniques, and the ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the operations and financial health of the hospital
- Interface and collaborate with Support Services departments as needed
- Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of staff
- Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, contract negotiation, and hiring of doctors in conjunction with the Medical Director
- Work closely with the Medical Director to establish the best medical care while keeping the positive financial health of the hospital
- Monitor employee competence and effectiveness through manager feedback and observation
- Assign job responsibilities to managers and delegate as necessary
- Responsible for policy enforcement and overseeing disciplinary actions and terminations with HR guidance
- Organize and conduct staff meetings
- Attend corporate meetings
- Responsible for administration and review of non-medical client complaints
- Oversee client flow to ensure that clients and patients are seen and treated in a professional, timely, and competent manner
- Oversee billing, calculations of any discounts, and other special accounts
- Monitor purchasing to ensure the practice operates within budget
- Monitor the staff scheduling to ensure the practice operates within budget
- Monitor and approve all expenditures within Ethos guidelines
- Ensure that the OSHA and Safety program and procedures are monitored and updated to ensure the hospital is in safety compliance
- Review income statements and other financial data to find ways to improve revenue and profit
- Meet regularly with veterinarians to review financial performance
- Review accounts receivable to confirm proper and timely processing
- Understand, participate, and support planned marketing events and programs
- Read and respond to all communication in a timely manner to ensure that Ethos policies, guidelines, and recommendations are quickly communicated to hospital staff and adequate training follows if needed
Requirements:
- College degree preferred; advanced degree ideal
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical care facility operations management with profit and loss responsibility
- Knowledge of financial budget management
- Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques
- Background in managing service-oriented operations
- Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts
- Ability to take information obtained from clients, staff, and other sources, discern that which is credible, and assess the hospital and its operation objectively
- Must be able to multi-task and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities
