Mission Statement:

Role Overview: The District Social Worker plays a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of students and their families, ensuring a supportive and healthy environment both at home and in school.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid license from the Mississippi Board of Examiners or the Mississippi Department of Education.
  • A Master's Degree is highly desirable.
  • Current licensure such as MDE 436, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW is required.
  • Professional experience beyond educational qualifications is essential.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Chief Support Officer.

Job Objectives:
The primary goal is to collaborate with students and their families to foster a nurturing environment conducive to academic success. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual, group, and academic counseling to students.
  • Support Guidance Counselors throughout the district.
  • Facilitate connections with external agencies.
  • Conduct crisis intervention as needed.
  • Offer case management and support services to parents and families, addressing social, emotional, and economic challenges.
  • Act as an advocate for students.
  • Deliver in-service training for staff on topics such as at-risk students, homelessness, and suicide prevention.
  • Establish connections with mental health organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison for homeless and/or foster care students.
  • Participate in the Positive Behavior Intervention Strategy committee.

  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
