Position Overview:
Seesaw is in search of a skilled back-end Software Engineer with a focus on infrastructure to become a vital member of our Core Platform Engineering division. In this position, you will be instrumental in establishing the essential framework of our platform, enabling various product teams to efficiently deliver outstanding user experiences at scale. Your role will involve ensuring the security, dependability, and cost-efficiency of Seesaw's platform and cloud infrastructure. If you are enthusiastic about developing resilient, high-performance infrastructure and are prepared to tackle operational challenges, we welcome your expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams (product, engineering) to design, develop, and sustain the core infrastructure of Seesaw's services.
- Build scalable and effective back-end systems that facilitate the rapid development of user-focused features.
- Guarantee the security and reliability of Seesaw's platform by proactively identifying and resolving potential vulnerabilities and performance issues.
- Enhance cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency, applying best practices in resource management.
- Participate in an iterative development process to deliver new features that resonate with students, educators, families, and school administrators.
- Engage in back-end software development for our platform utilizing Python, DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch.
- Contribute to the establishment of a robust technical roadmap and engineering culture through design proposals and industry involvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Over 5 years of experience in a back-end or infrastructure Software Engineering capacity.
- Proficient in Python and AWS (or another cloud service provider).
- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles, supported by a degree in CS or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining software at scale, with a track record of delivering web applications to millions of users and discussing the architecture that supports such scale.
- Adept at navigating complex systems and capable of writing clear, maintainable, self-documenting, or well-documented code to address intricate problems with straightforward, elegant solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred: Experience in Application Security and/or Infrastructure Security, along with infrastructure-as-code development experience.
