Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Affiliate Supervisor to join our team at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. As an Affiliate Supervisor, you will play a critical role in supervising masters-level Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) students in our Community Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide weekly group supervision for MFT students, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for their growth and development.
  • Be available for emergency support, case management, and other responsibilities that arise from students' cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles into group supervision, clinical case discussions, and case conceptualization, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Monitor students' progress, ensuring they meet clinical training requirements and achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Approve supervision hours completed in the Internship Course, maintaining accurate records and facilitating student success.
  • Communicate and coordinate with students' group supervisors and academic advisors, ensuring seamless collaboration and support.
  • Support students in their internship process, providing guidance and resources to ensure their success.
  • Consult with the Director of Bette D. Harris Child and Family Clinic and Community Programs regarding student issues and concerns.
  • Familiarize yourself with Tevera and use it competently to track training documentation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Respond to all correspondence within 48 hours, maintaining excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Provide additional support and guidance to students as needed, promoting their growth and development.
  • Abide by organizational policies and procedures, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Evaluate students' clinical work, providing constructive feedback and guidance to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Support students in their development of self-of-the-therapist, promoting self-awareness and personal growth.
  • Effectively facilitate group process in supervision groups, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Complete a yearly evaluation of program leadership and resources, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Receive at least a satisfactory evaluation by students at the end of the year, demonstrating your commitment to excellence and student success.
  • Review and sign all clinical documentation in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Monitor academic and clinical requirements, tracking student progress and ensuring timely completion of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Attend virtual bimonthly Community Team meetings, staying informed and engaged with program developments and initiatives.
  • Attend monthly Super Supervision and other important Community Programs events, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field (PhD in MFT or Masters in MFT with extensive clinical experience preferred).
  • Two or more years of experience clinically supervising graduate-level students.
  • Experience with systemic clinical practice and a commitment to learning about integrative systemic therapy.
  • Cultural competence and strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills, creativity, and ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to new and rapidly changing situations, with strong time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to successfully resolve issues from identification through resolution, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable and consistent access to high-speed internet and computer.
