Job Summary:

The Virtual Sign Language Interpreter will provide high-quality interpretation services to deaf students in a virtual setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Sign Language, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:
  • Translate lectures, discussions, and other classroom activities into sign language for deaf students.
  • Ensure that deaf students have equal access to educational materials by providing sign language interpretation.
  • Facilitate communication between students and their peers during group activities, lunchtime, and extracurricular events.
  • Assist in parent-teacher conferences, school assemblies, and other school-related events to ensure deaf students and their families can participate fully.
  • Advocate for the needs of deaf students within the school environment, collaborating with teachers and administrators to implement accommodations and support services.
Qualifications:
  • The American Sign Language English Interpretation (ASLEI) accreditation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreter (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as Sign Language Interpreter, preferably including telepractice experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively while adhering to ethical and professional guidelines.
