Position Overview
The New York Institute of Technology is seeking a dedicated Attendant for the Manhattan Cafe located at our New York City campus. This full-time role is essential in providing exceptional service and maintaining the quality of our dining offerings.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will report directly to the Area Supervisor and will be responsible for:
- Operational Duties: Mastering the operation of coffee equipment, preparing beverages according to established recipes, and ensuring timely service.
- Inventory Management: Communicating necessary supplies for the coffee bar to the shift lead and Culinary Operations Manager at the end of each shift.
- Food Preparation: Assisting in the setup and preparation of breakfast and lunch items, including pastries, salads, and hot food displays.
- Customer Engagement: Greeting customers warmly, providing prompt service, and addressing any feedback or concerns effectively.
- Maintenance and Cleanliness: Upholding cleanliness standards in the dining area, including equipment and workspaces, and adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience.
- Current or in-progress Serve-Safe Certification and valid NYC Health Department certificate.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- The capability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements: The role requires standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting items up to 40 pounds.
