We are looking for a skilled Senior Controls Engineer to take charge of or contribute to the intricate hardware and software design of process automation control systems projects. This role involves defining architectural requirements, crafting detailed software design specifications, programming PLC and SCADA applications, configuring thin client server applications, and tuning control loops. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for control system startup and commissioning services, troubleshooting existing systems, and ensuring control system qualifications. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in projects from conception through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop application/control systems for a range of complexities.
  • Assess and create alternative system solutions that align with specified requirements.
  • Modify program/system logic across multiple systems and subsystems.
  • Achieve proficiency in various programming languages and control device networks for PLCs and PCs.
  • Engage with clients to understand their business environment, defining scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team, emphasizing customer service and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in consulting roles.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in control systems and a solid understanding of process controls.
  • Instrumentation expertise.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with Ignition and PLC products, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPAx, and others.
  • Background in food and beverage controls engineering.
  • Familiarity with S88 Batch standards and experience in implementing batch systems.
  • Control system validation experience in pharmaceutical or biotech environments is advantageous.
  • Experience with other PLC platforms (GE, Siemens, Modicon) and SCADA/HMI packages (Proficy, Wonderware).
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience in developing detailed control system electrical design packages.
  • Working knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.).
