JOB SUMMARY
This position is integral to Operations, focusing on overseeing the functions related to Delivery. Key responsibilities encompass providing leadership and guidance to delivery personnel, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and maintaining the safety and security of the delivery division.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the daily operations and safety protocols of Delivery Associates, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and efficient customer service.
- Ensures Delivery Associates adhere to local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA) and maintains accurate electronic logs.
- Manages labor hours and supplies within budgetary constraints.
- Develops work schedules, including additional shifts as necessary.
- Supervises the appropriate use of company resources in support of the Delivery department.
- Coordinates necessary repairs with relevant departments.
- Analyzes delivery operations and productivity metrics.
- Proposes efficiency improvements and assists in implementing changes.
- Trains and enforces company policies and procedures, including food safety and record-keeping.
- Collaborates with Sales Management and Marketing to address customer delivery challenges.
- Engages with customers to resolve issues and evaluate delivery complexities.
- Fosters positive associate relations through regular meetings and open communication.
- Monitors team morale and encourages engagement initiatives.
- Works with the Safety department to enhance training and conduct safety inspections.
- Recommends disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Handles management functions related to staff selection, development, and performance evaluations.
- Performs duties of supervised associates and other related tasks as required.
Education
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: 2 or 4-year degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Completion of a Sysco-approved defensive driving program.
- HazMat certification preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting company standards preferred.
- Ability to lead discussions and meetings effectively.
- Collaborative approach to working with peers and associates across departments.
- Problem-solving skills to address various operational challenges.
- Ability to interpret instructions in multiple formats.
- Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Consistent application of policies in a timely and fair manner.
- Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in report writing and business correspondence.
- Competence in using spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
The physical requirements for this role include:
- Regular communication abilities.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity.
- Occasional lifting and moving of heavy items (up to 100 pounds).
- Visual acuity for various tasks.
