Purpose of Position:

Serve as a vital member of the village health service team, providing support in the electronic health record documentation process for Community Health Aides. Verify patient records for completeness and ensure accuracy in documentation.

Essential Functions:
  1. Assist Community Health Aides in the use of the electronic health record, responding to questions and assisting with problem-solving.
  2. Review patient records to identify deficiencies that need correction before forwarding for coding and billing.
  3. Collaborate with the coder and billers to resolve issues as they arise.
  4. Promote teamwork and participate as an active member of the team.
  5. Adhere to established procedures and display a professional demeanor to effectively interact with staff, providers, and team members.
  6. Assist in monitoring and active follow-up of documentation and charting deficiencies to support CHA Staff and HIM in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the medical record.

Required Knowledge:

All Norton Sound Health Corporation employees are expected to have general knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.

Job-specific knowledge includes above-average computer use and operation, knowledge and competence with a variety of software programs, and knowledge and competence in the function and use of Electronic Health Records.

Knowledge of healthcare and clinical systems is preferred.

  3. The ability to follow policy, procedure, and instructions, actively communicate with supervisors to ensure understanding, and manage work accordingly.

  1. Above-average customer service and interpersonal skills.
  2. Above-average computer skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheets, and office software.
  3. Strong competence in Microsoft Excel, including writing custom formulas and creating and modifying pivot tables.
