Job Description

DataFielder Inc. is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer to work remotely. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing and DevOps practices, with a focus on accelerating scientific cloud computing adoption and best practices in our enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit existing systems and develop proper configurations in networking, RBAC/IAM, security, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and high-performance compute.
  • Design, develop, and operate shared, enterprise data services to help programs modernize and integrate these services with their existing and planned systems.
  • Expand the quantity and quality of these services and assist programs to integrate their systems to create new public health data products using the shared platform.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging tools and enterprise approaches, such as machine learning operations, dynamic visualizations, and containerization.
  • Automate data modeling processes, including builds, revision retention, sharing, and reproducibility with an emphasis on DevSecOps best practices using secured code and data repositories, continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IAC).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in Azure cloud engineering, architecture, and/or DevSecOps.
  • 6+ years of git (version control) experience in a fast-paced team-based setting.
  • 6+ years' experience with Docker, podman, Kubernetes, and related technology.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and experience with PowerShell / CLI.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD including GitHub Actions and yaml.
  • Understanding and experience on how to set up organizational Self-hosted Runners in Github Actions.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Identity and Access Management, Governance, and Security best practices.
  • Solid experience with Azure Batch compute and related services.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for scripting and automation tasks; familiarity with data manipulation libraries is preferred.
  • Experience with data pipeline architecture and management.
