Job Summary

This role is an ASA Certified actuary position that initiates and leads the development of actuarial studies and analyses. The incumbent applies actuarial techniques and statistical analysis to various functions, including insurance premium and pricing development, claim trend analysis, experience studies, medical economics, profitability analysis, wellness studies, predictive modeling, or claim reserving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and diagnose problems, outlining data requirements for studies or analyses and devising insightful and creative solutions.
  • Initiate and lead the development of studies, analyses, and presentation materials to inform decision-makers.
  • Proactively ensure internal and external consistency of work, using advanced industry knowledge to perform reasonability checks and exceed customer expectations.
  • Take the initiative to utilize internal and external knowledge forums to gain broader industry perspective and demonstrate subject matter expertise.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of corporate and division goals and values, applying corporate, professional, and industry knowledge to all tasks.
  • Independently manage time and resources across multiple projects, demonstrating responsiveness, confidence, flexibility, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Interact with stakeholders to foster cooperation and teamwork, conveying engagement and competence.
  • Engage, motivate, and mentor less experienced staff in a positive manner that fosters teamwork and excellence.
  • Represent department's perspectives and needs in cross-disciplinary settings, negotiating appropriate compromises and solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of actuarial experience in the area of specialization.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuing FSA exams towards FSA Certification.
Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of actuarial principles, concepts, practices, and processes within multiple fields or disciplines.
  • Significant expertise to complete complex assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems.
  • Develops, designs, and tests analytic frameworks to solve complex problems using innovative approaches.
