Automation Design Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Automation Design Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX. As a key member of our mechanical engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated systems and mechanical components for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated systems and mechanical components, including steppers, servo motors, sensors, vision systems, complex motion systems, and robots.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate designs with control and electrical systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test plans.
  • Participate in team stand-ups to discuss objectives and work with fabricators and technicians to complete upgrades to equipment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a primary designer of a company or corporation.
  • Experience working on design of mechanical automated machines or stations.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD design programs, specifically SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on ability and interest to help build and prototype designs.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Automated sorting or pick and place system design work.
  • Experience troubleshooting restaurant equipment like QSR machines.
