Surgical Services Director

The Surgical Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing the surgical services department, including the main side and short-stay preoperative, operating room, postoperative, central sterilization, anesthesia technicians, schedulers, and treatment departments. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, they will develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational guidelines for these departments.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize the nursing process to direct or provide nursing care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accrediting bodies.
- Develop and implement process improvements, collaborating with organizational leaders and utilizing resources such as ASPAN, AORN, and AAMI.
- Manage and develop Associate Managers, ensuring adequate communication and employee performance management.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Department on hiring decisions and employee development.
- Oversee training and development programs, employee engagement, and retention efforts.
- Develop and manage strategic staffing plans, analyzing metrics and trends to optimize staffing efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative relationship between nursing staff and physicians, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Associate's degree from an accredited school of professional nursing required, Bachelor's degree within 2 years of hire.
- Two years or more of healthcare leadership experience required, Surgical Services experience preferred.
- Current RN licensure in the State of Wisconsin, BLS certification required upon hire, ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
