Position Overview
The Director of Interconnection will oversee the management of the interconnection and grid integration processes, aligning with the strategic development and operational objectives of the company. This role focuses on the existing pipeline of utility-scale energy storage projects, as well as the evaluation of new initiatives within the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the interconnection process, ensuring timely monitoring of key milestones from project inception to commercial operation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project developers and external consultants, providing technical expertise and innovative solutions to streamline interconnection costs and facilitate project advancement.
  • Conduct thorough analyses to assess interconnection capacity and deliverability, utilizing load flow modeling and other analytical tools.
  • Perform due diligence on potential interconnection and transmission risks for projects and acquisitions, offering strategic recommendations to the acquisition team.
  • Evaluate transmission policies and conduct assessments to predict future system conditions, supporting development and construction efforts.
  • Negotiate contracts with utility companies, ensuring favorable terms for the organization.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize project designs in accordance with grid integration requirements.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, including utility personnel, industry groups, and regulatory bodies.
  • Engage in regional transmission planning processes and interconnection policy discussions, representing the company’s interests effectively.
  • Review and analyze utility transmission planning reports, presenting findings to relevant teams.
  • Provide technical support for project development and acquisition activities, focusing on transmission system evaluations.
  • Monitor system upgrade progress and identify innovative solutions to support project development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related analytical field.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including six years in CAISO transmission planning or generation interconnection.
  • In-depth knowledge of the CAISO interconnection process and transmission planning.
  • Experience with power system modeling and interconnection studies.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess power flow and system impact studies.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with utilities and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Additional Information
  • This position supports a hybrid work model and may require domestic travel.
  • Compliance with company policies regarding health and safety is mandatory.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting up to 30 lbs.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to base pay, the role is eligible for a bonus/incentive plan and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings options.
