Position Overview:

Arcadis is on the lookout for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Design and Engineering team, contributing to a variety of stimulating projects across the USA.

In this role, you will engage with the fire protection discipline team on multiple simultaneous projects, navigating through pursuits, proposals, design, and construction phases. Your responsibilities will include advancing design initiatives and making informed design choices. Additionally, you may assist in proposal and business development activities, collaborating with project teams, senior and junior engineers, project managers, and clients on diverse projects spanning commercial, industrial, and municipal/government sectors. This position is primarily remote; however, proximity to an airport is essential for attending client meetings in various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate project-level expertise in fire alarm systems, smoke control, fire suppression, and related design tasks, with the capability to independently conduct code analyses, calculations, and other relevant decisions under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and a collaborative spirit, capable of working autonomously as well as within a team environment.
  • Lead design teams in creating construction-ready drawing packages, ensuring inter-discipline coordination.
  • Design systems with a focus on capacity, redundancy, reliability, efficiency, safety, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Travel to project sites for engineering surveys, data collection for system studies, system audits, and collaboration with client team members.
  • Stay informed about industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations, including NFPA and international standards.
  • Possess proficiency in design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation tools.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Licensure: Professional license (e.g., EIT/PE or GIT/PG) is required.
  • Accreditation: NICET certification is preferred.
  • Experience in lean design and construction methodologies.
  • LEED Accredited Professional status is advantageous.
