The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for executing manual tasks related to the upkeep of landscapes surrounding municipal properties and public areas. The worker will encounter diverse environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, rain, and various allergens, and must be prepared for the challenges posed by extreme weather.
Reporting Structure:
- The Grounds Maintenance Worker primarily reports to the Grounds Crew Leader and may receive guidance from other supervisory personnel.
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute essential maintenance tasks including mowing and trimming on public property using a variety of equipment such as mowers and trimmers.
- Maintain and care for all tools and machinery used in the performance of duties.
- Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures as directed by supervisors.
- Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure clarity in tasks and responsibilities.
- Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills in job-related matters.
- Provide assistance to colleagues and maintain a positive attitude in interactions with the public.
- Timely report any issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Be punctual and maintain regular attendance at the workplace.
- Be available for emergency duties outside of standard working hours as needed.
- Demonstrate initiative and thoroughness in completing all assigned tasks.
- Safeguard municipal property and report any necessary repairs.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid Texas Class C Driver License with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
Successful completion of pre-employment screenings is mandatory.

The Grounds Maintenance Worker must possess the following abilities:
- Follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Utilize janitorial tools and supplies effectively.
- Engage in physically demanding work.
