The Family Advocate plays a vital role in providing support and guidance to families in need. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with families to identify their strengths and challenges, and develop personalized plans to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advocacy, education, and support to families, connecting them to community resources and natural supports.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to help families achieve their goals, including connecting them to community activities and resources.
  • Facilitate family/parent support groups, providing a safe and supportive environment for parents to share their experiences and connect with others.
  • Work with families to identify and access available resources, including education, advocacy, and support services.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including mental health staff and community organizations, to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
  • Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment, and acceptance of diversity in all interactions with families and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Be a parent or caregiver of a child with a history of emotional or behavioral problems.
  • Be a credentialed Family Peer Advocate.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Have some high school education (a high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred).
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have experience working with children (preference given to those with experience working with children with special needs).
  • Have a New York State Driver's License that meets agency policy.
  • Have reliable means of transportation to travel throughout Western New York area.
