Key Responsibilities:- Provide advocacy, education, and support to families, connecting them to community resources and natural supports.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to help families achieve their goals, including connecting them to community activities and resources.
- Facilitate family/parent support groups, providing a safe and supportive environment for parents to share their experiences and connect with others.
- Work with families to identify and access available resources, including education, advocacy, and support services.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including mental health staff and community organizations, to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
- Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment, and acceptance of diversity in all interactions with families and colleagues.
- Be a parent or caregiver of a child with a history of emotional or behavioral problems.
- Be a credentialed Family Peer Advocate.
- Be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Have some high school education (a high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred).
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have experience working with children (preference given to those with experience working with children with special needs).
- Have a New York State Driver's License that meets agency policy.
- Have reliable means of transportation to travel throughout Western New York area.
