Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Behavior Technician to join our team at Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. As a Registered Behavior Technician, you will play a critical role in providing behavior analysis services, behavior analytic consultations, and collaborating with teams to implement behavior intervention plans for Special education students receiving specially designed instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe students in multiple educational settings and remain covert throughout the observation period.
  • Collect data as directed by the BCBA and ensure that the behavior observed meets the operational definition and is accurate.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans as directed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Model behavior change procedures and ensure staff are able to complete the required procedure.
  • Conduct training for educational stakeholders and assist with delivering professional development.
  • Complete fidelity checks of behavior intervention plans and various behavior analytic strategies recommended by the BCBA.
  • Deliver services by working with students in a 1:1 setting as needed.
  • Attend monthly meetings as required by the supervising BCBA.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education or related field preferred.
  • Must hold a current and valid credential from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) detailing RBT certification.
  • Registered and locatable through the BACB site.
  • Maintain good standing with the BACB throughout employment.
  • Meets the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education.

Working Conditions:

  • Maintain a daily log of school/staff visits and required documentation.
  • Must have the ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the work day.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling, working conditions, and location of work.
  • May require physical exertion.
  • Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
