Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at ICONMA. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing all levels of testing, including CLIA defined high complexity testing and laboratory services. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating, judging, and interpreting test results, ensuring accuracy and consistency in patient results. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting problems, providing specialized expertise in microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, and infectious disease safety. Additionally, you will perform patient specimen testing, ensure sample suitability, and provide limited test utilization and interpretation information to medical staff and nursing. You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring quality control and functionality, and reviewing LJ charts and submitting data to the Laboratory Manager and peer. You will work closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure quality measures are met and write policies and procedures. You will also prepare the lab for inspection from regulatory institutions and train new employees, staff, and laboratory students. You will participate in continuing education programs and ensure that adequate levels of inventory are maintained. Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
- Progressively responsible work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist (AMT) OR equivalent certification (as determined by a national credential certification agency)
- One (1) year of progressive clinical experience or one (1) year of hospital internship subsequent to degree
- Knowledge of all levels of laboratory testing including CLIA defined high complexity testing
- Knowledge of LIS operation and the ability to utilize a variety of laboratory and other software applications
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment use and operations
- Knowledge of all aspects of quality control
- Knowledge of CLIA, Joint Commission, CAP, and other regulatory requirements
