Dance Instructor

Job Summary:

Aims Community College is seeking a highly qualified Exercise Professional to join our team. As a Dance Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching various dance classes to Aims Community College students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct high-quality dance classes to Aims Community College students and staff as scheduled.
• Embody and apply the College's purpose, vision, mission, and commitment to diversity.
• Clearly explain and demonstrate exercises and equipment.
• Provide modifications tailored to various skill levels.
• Supervise and assist class participants in utilizing equipment.
• Instruct participants on safe equipment usage and intervene in unsafe actions.
• Address inquiries regarding class content.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Display effective leadership and organizational abilities.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all class participants.
• Promptly address risk management issues as they arise.
• Document all emergencies and injuries accurately and promptly.

Requirements:

• Applicant must hold a post-secondary educational degree.
• Associate's Degree, accompanied by 8,000 hours of related experience and a relevant certification (if applicable) OR
• Bachelor's Degree, accompanied by 4,000 hours of related experience and a relevant certification (if applicable) OR
• Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field, accompanied by relevant certification (if applicable).
• Hold a valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification or have the ability to obtain certification.
• Physical effort is required, including, but not limited to, lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.
• A pre-employment post-offer physical exam will be required of the selected candidate.
• Confident and knowledgeable about the course subject matter and technique.
• If applicable, maintain an accredited sport or activity-specific certification or license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching dance classes to students of various skill levels.
• Knowledge of dance styles and choreography.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
