We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at the New Castle, DE service center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, assembly, testing, and painting of enclosed drive gearboxes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform labor activities in the assembly & test departments.
- Conduct precise measurements using instruments such as veneer calipers and micrometers.
- Disassemble and inspect gearboxes to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assemble and test gearboxes to ensure proper function and performance.
- Perform deburring, cleaning, and painting tasks to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Collaborate with other facility teams to address and resolve assembly/test problems quickly.
- Provide feedback to Engineering on assembly/test discrepancies, drawing errors, and quality errors to prevent reoccurrence.
- Emphasize values and a culture that prioritize workplace safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.
- Develop relationships with peer groups to foster teamwork and unity of purpose.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, see, hear, and use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to rig and maneuver parts safely using overhead cranes.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- High school degree or equivalent and 0-2 years of experience.
- US citizenship.
