Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and diagnose patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address specific functional needs
  • Teach patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, and maintain fluency
  • Help individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
  • Work with adults and children to develop and strengthen muscles used to swallow
  • Counsel individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
  • Communicate diagnoses, test results, and available treatments to clients and their families
  • Exercise compassion when working with individuals frustrated by their difficulties
  • Adjust treatment plans as required and identify alternative ways to help
  • Maintain accurate notes on treatment and progress
Qualifications:
  • Valid and unencumbered state license or certification
  • Recent Speech Language Pathologist experience in a rehab setting
  • BLS certification
