Raleigh, North Carolina, United States CDM Smith Full time

The role of Technical Project Director at CDM Smith is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead key technical delivery areas. With 10 years of experience in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, you will develop and drive the technical vision of projects, working closely with project managers and reporting directly to them.

You will coordinate technical content for design and non-design projects, using preemptive, preventive, and proactive approaches to delivery that mitigate circle backs. This includes creating engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, etc. to meet client project requirements.

As a Technical Project Director, you will review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and sign off on completed designs. You will also ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs, and perform site reviews and studies as needed to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.

This role contributes to the firm's technical knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. You will submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

Additionally, you will collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs), and review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.

A salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year reflects the senior level of this position. The firm offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, and 10 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
