Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Respiratory Care Specialist, your duties will include:

  • Administering respiratory therapy as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Conducting diagnostic assessments to determine the necessity and effectiveness of treatments.
  • Monitoring and managing patients on mechanical ventilation.
  • Documenting relevant information in patient medical records.
  • Performing both noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests.
  • Maintaining and calibrating respiratory care equipment as needed.
  • Acting as a protocol assessor for respiratory care.
Qualifications

Experience:

1-3 years of relevant experience preferred, particularly in an acute care setting.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
