Operations Supervisor


Overview:


The Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in achieving departmental goals and objectives. This position is responsible for supervising semi to highly skilled production and/or maintenance employees on an assigned shift to ensure the manufacture of products within established delivery, quality, safety, and cost standards.


Duties:


  • Establish a Positive Work Environment: Foster open communication, provide constructive feedback, and offer guidance to employees.
  • Ensure Employee Competence: Provide training, work instructions, and necessary tools to enable employees to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Monitor Quality and Production: Troubleshoot workmanship problems, monitor control plans, and ensure manufactured products meet or exceed quality requirements.
  • Administer Employee Policies: Enforce company policies, practices, procedures, and work rules applicable to the unit.
  • Monitor Performance and Take Corrective Action: Address individual and line performance issues, including discipline, as needed, and respond to employee complaints.
  • Prioritize Manufacturing and Distribution: Determine daily assignments, fill vacancies, and assign overtime to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Maintain Equipment and Facilities: Plan for maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and utilization.
  • Manage Departmental Budget: Monitor and correct deviations from department operating budget targets.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Direct departmental continuous improvement plans and activities.
  • Implement Safety Programs: Develop and monitor safety programs and housekeeping initiatives.


Requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience.


Must-Haves:


  • Manufacturing or Warehouse Experience: Proven experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Union Experience: Experience working in or with a union environment.
  • Systems Experience: Familiarity with SAP systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in desktop applications, including MS Word, Office, and Excel.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.
