Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Description

A leading Waste and Recycling company in West Palm Beach, Florida, is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment, including conveyor systems, Volvo, Morbark Grinders, and Doppstadt Shredders.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, with a high level of technical expertise and a strong understanding of diagnostic tools. A set of mechanic tools and welding experience are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of heavy construction equipment, including conveyor systems, Volvo, Morbark Grinders, and Doppstadt Shredders
  • Gas and diesel engine work, including transmissions, hydraulics, and electric motors (5-50 hp)
  • Utilizing schematics and service manuals to organize and perform repairs
  • Filling out paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • High level B or A level technician highly preferred
  • Welding experience helpful but not necessary
  • Experience with diagnostic tools
  • Must have own set of mechanic tools
