Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Commissioning Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing a comprehensive range of commissioning (Cx) tasks, typically on moderately sized or complex building projects, or supporting senior staff on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage or assist with multiple commissioning projects, including client interaction, team coordination, and oversight of schedules and budgets.
  • Contribute to the expansion of IMEG's commissioning services through targeted marketing initiatives.
  • Conduct commissioning reviews of construction documents and equipment submissions.
  • Perform technical evaluations of building operations, including controls and sequences.
  • Maintain proactive communication with a diverse range of client stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member.
  • Develop commissioning plans, reports, and testing procedures.
  • Conduct site observations, document findings, and lead commissioning meetings.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of commissioning processes and best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF editing tools (Bluebeam, Adobe), along with online project management software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with a variety of clients.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations.
  • Familiarity with building automation and lighting control systems.
  • Knowledge of commissioning industry standards and applicable codes.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents effectively.
  • Understanding of electrical and fire/life safety systems.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Capability to perform functional testing of building MEP systems.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time, depending on project requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or at least 6 years of qualifying experience without a degree.
  • Experience in commissioning or MEP consulting is preferred; alternative experience in construction, controls, or balancing may also be considered.
  • Building Commissioning Certification is preferred, with the potential to earn certification.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure is preferred but not mandatory.
