Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a branch-sized team of scientific, engineering, technical, and administrative professionals.
  • Ensure the quality, timeliness, and financial integrity of all branch outputs and commitments.
  • Drive technical leadership and maintain a robust technical foundation within the branch.
  • Manage and enhance existing product lines while identifying new opportunities for mission applicability.
  • Support long-term strategic planning for the technical sustainability of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel may be required to various locations, including remote sites.

Qualifications:

This position is interdisciplinary and may be filled by candidates with backgrounds in General Engineering, General Physical Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-4 pay band in federal service or comparable experience in the private sector.

Specialized Experience: Candidates should have a proven track record in applying systems engineering principles to develop specifications for fiber optic technologies.

Education: A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent qualifications in physical science, engineering, or mathematics is required.

Additional Information: This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Candidates must provide comprehensive documentation to demonstrate their qualifications.
