Job Overview

Helix Resources, LLC is seeking an experienced Metal Fabrication Specialist to join our team. This role involves the fabrication, assembly, and installation of structural steel products.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out and marking weld points on parts or subassemblies using a ruler, square, scribe, or templates. They will also fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates for offshore drilling jackets and decks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble metal components according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Install and remove stop plates, dogs, and pad eyes as required.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind, and bolt components to position for welding.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure them with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Operate cutting equipment including torches and various power and hand tools.
  • Remove rough spots from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Safely operate iron workers, grinders, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machines, welding machines, and various pneumatic hand tools.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in fitter-related work.
  • Lay-out and fitting experience with miscellaneous metal and structural steel.
  • Able to pass a drug screen.
  • Must have a reliable transportation.
  • Able to lift up to 50 LBS.
  • Able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly.
  • Able to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
