Auto Body Technician Job Description

At Gerber Collision & Glass, we're committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences through our meticulous assessment and quality repair of vehicles. As an Auto Body Technician, you'll play a pivotal role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring speed, quality, and customer excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute the WOW plan consistently
  • Plan and prepare cost estimates for customers
  • Use various tools to repair vehicle sections
  • Hammer out dents and dimples, or mix and apply filler resins when necessary
  • Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage
  • Remove and replace damaged vehicle sections with new or aftermarket parts
  • Repair or replace glass and windshields as needed
  • Replace or repair interior parts as needed
  • Weld and attach or fit parts into place
  • Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent
  • Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure all work has been executed correctly

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
  • Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
  • Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
  • Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
