Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a senior structural engineer to join our Water group. Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects that require structural engineers with diverse experience levels. Our projects involve unique designs, providing a challenging and engaging work environment. We have a strong portfolio of infrastructure projects, including water control structures, dams, and levee closure structures.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design effort for structures on or near the water, including locks, dams, water control gates, and moorings.
  • Direct the development of bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Develop or provide input on design efforts for proposals.
  • Mentor junior staff and review/edit/write technical reports and specifications.
  • Develop design criteria for projects and oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, and lead field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction.
  • Develop design alternatives and assist project managers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Masters' degree preferred.
  • Professional engineer licensure.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with multiple needs for those with experience levels in excess of this minimum.
  • Advanced knowledge in the design of concrete and steel structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and how to apply them to non-standard structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering modeling software.
  • A desire to work on a variety of structure types and in a collaborative team environment.
  • CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
