Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Engineer to join our team at Insight Global. As a key member of our Power Distribution Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading other distribution engineers, working directly with clients, and ensuring the reputation of high quality is maintained.

This is a remote opportunity with the intention of transitioning to in-office eventually. The ideal candidate will live in New Jersey or Eastern Pennsylvania, with a preference for the Trenton to Clifton region (Northern New Jersey).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers
  • Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, and specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
  • Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering plus 5 years relevant job experience
  • Execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved
  • Experience with utility reliability projects
  • QA/QC expertise
  • Customer interaction
  • Process documentation
  • Experience with the NESC
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
  • Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc
  • Experience using Distribution Design Studio (DDS) performing Electric Distribution Design
  • Experience with the Work Management System CREWS
  • Relevant management experience of 1+ years
