Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY: To provide professional nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. To collaborate with other members of the healthcare delivery team, including physicians, to deliver quality healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nursing License in the state of Texas or Compact state.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Bachelor's in Nursing Science (preferred).
- Associates degree or Diploma in Nursing (required).
- Medical/Surgical Nursing experience (preferred).
- Medical Surgical ANCC Certification (preferred).
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to patient, family, internal, and external partner needs.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency.
