ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of resident care tasks and related non-professional services essential for the comfort and personal needs of residents in the Residential Unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide care to residents in a manner that ensures their safety and comfort, following the guidance of nursing supervisors and charge nurses.
2. Execute duties in accordance with established protocols and recognized standards.
3. Deliver maximum resident care services within the scope of delegated tasks.
4. Manage various resident care responsibilities as assigned, including admitting, discharging, and transferring residents, as well as assisting professional nurses with treatments.
5. Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and nail care.
6. Maintain cleanliness by making beds and ensuring a tidy environment.
7. Support residents with self-medication as needed.
8. Ensure all residents are properly identified with wristbands and tags.
9. Accompany residents to appointments outside the facility when necessary.
10. Aid charge nurses during resident admission assessments.
11. Participate in developing and implementing residents' nursing care plans.
12. Record vital signs and assist residents during meal times.
13. Respond to residents' calls and assist with personal needs.
14. Help train new nursing assistants.
15. Report any changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse.
16. Maintain cleanliness in utility and kitchen areas as assigned.
17. Ensure the highest quality of service is provided to residents and their families in a compassionate atmosphere.
18. Assist with treatments and vital signs as required.
19. Perform additional duties as requested.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
2. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English is mandatory.
3. Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program and a Medication Assistance in-service is required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Good physical and mental health is essential.
2. Knowledge of basic treatment procedures and bedside care techniques is necessary.
3. Awareness of safety hazards for residents and self is critical.
4. Familiarity with facility regulations and departmental locations is important.
5. Understanding of basic medical asepsis and infection control practices is required.
6. Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to different units as needed.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with residents, families, and staff.
8. Annual verification of a negative TB skin test is required.

RELATED DUTIES:
1. Engage with residents, families, and visitors in a supportive manner.
2. Carry out additional tasks as needed in hands-on situations.
