Compensation: $23-29/hour
Position Summary:
The School Transportation Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students according to a predetermined schedule and route. This role involves daily interaction with students, providing them with a reliable means of transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities. Key responsibilities include assisting students during boarding and alighting, familiarizing oneself with the students on the route, and navigating traffic conditions effectively. Additionally, the operator is tasked with maintaining a clean and safe vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and in good working order at all times.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Accurately complete daily maintenance logs.
- Refuel the vehicle when fuel levels drop below half a tank.
- Promptly report any vehicle issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Safe Driving Practices:
- Adhere to all traffic regulations.
- Remain vigilant to changing traffic and weather conditions.
- Student Safety:
- Assist students during the loading and unloading process.
- Maintain order and discipline among students while on the vehicle.
- Accurately record student attendance on daily logs.
- Follow the designated route and schedule for departures and stops.
- Participate in required safety meetings.
- Collaborate with team members to perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in driving students or passengers is preferred.
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic violations in the past three years.
- Experience working with children is advantageous.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B is required for this role.
- T-01 Certificate is necessary for Bus Driver responsibilities.
- First Aid/CPR Certification is mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and a willingness to learn new technologies.
