Transportation Operations Manager

The Transportation Manager at Athens Services is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of shipments from various locations to the final processing or disposal site. This role involves coordinating with external transportation companies and managing a team of dispatchers, operations clerks, and drivers to ensure efficient and safe transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management oversight to the transportation department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Develop and implement plans to optimize transportation operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance management, to ensure a high-performing team.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of transportation operations with overall business strategy.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, and implement effective safety and accident prevention programs.
- Manage budgets and expenses, including approval of purchase orders and vendor pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including transportation companies and government agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as logistics, transportation, or business.
- 5-7 years of experience in transportation management, with a focus on logistics and supply chain management.
- Proven track record of success in managing teams and driving business results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.

- Eye/hand coordination, fingering (typing), handling, and wrist motion continuously.
- Standing and walking frequently.
- Bending, reaching, and stretching occasionally.
- Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, and noise occasionally.
- Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, and wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions occasionally.
- Works inside and outside.
