Direct Orthopedic Care is seeking highly motivated physical therapists to participate in our Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program. This comprehensive program is designed to provide post-graduate specialty training in the fields of acute orthopedic care, orthopedic surgery, non-operative sports medicine, regenerative medicine, and injury prevention.

Program Goals and Objectives

The program mission is to equip physical therapists with the clinical and interpersonal skillsets to practice efficient, effective, and ethical orthopedic care in clinical settings with the highest levels of competence and compassion.

The residency program aims to develop and master the science and art of outpatient orthopedics through robust clinical, didactic, and professional training. Key topics and skills covered include:

  • Soft tissue injury evaluation and management
  • Surgical anatomy and orthopedic surgery
  • Regenerative medicine and orthobiologics
  • Clinical evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic orthopedic pathology
  • Practice building, professional development, and practice ethics
  • Clinical leadership and management

Curriculum and Training

The curriculum is divided into three pillars: Academics, Clinical Skills, and Professional Development & Leadership. Residents will participate in outpatient clinics, gain exposure to radiology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, sports rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, and pediatric orthopedics. Experiences include sports medicine, arthroplasty, upper extremity, orthobiologics, spine, hand, and pediatrics.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking highly energetic physical therapists who are passionate about orthopedics and looking to improve their clinical skills and knowledge on how to build a successful non-operative orthopedic surgical practice. While this opportunity will allow exposure to the operating room, collaboration with DOC surgeons and APPs, the primary focus will be on clinical orthopedic care.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program
  • Transcripts from physical therapy program

Program Benefits

  • $75,000 salary during the year of training
