Job Title: Diversity and Outreach Team Member

Overdose Lifeline, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Diversity & Outreach Team Member. This role is pivotal in bridging critical gaps in harm reduction services by engaging with underserved communities, including Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and LGBTQIA+ populations, to ensure equitable access to life-saving resources such as naloxone and fentanyl test strips.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Diversity & Outreach Program Manager in planning, executing, and evaluating diversity initiatives and trainings to enhance outreach effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Program Evaluation to transfer documentation to the IU School of Public Health and/or Coroners Grant Office.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for the Diversity & Outreach Program, including recording detailed minutes for coalition meetings and ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Manage comprehensive contact lists for community partners and update cross-program contact information.
Community Engagement and Education:
  • Build strategic relationships within underserved Indianapolis communities to promote harm reduction and safe substance use practices.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly community education sessions.
  • Conduct one-on-one interviews with individuals from Hispanic/Latino and LGBTQIA+ communities to identify barriers to naloxone and fentanyl test strips distribution.
Program Logistics and Event Coordination:
  • Manage logistics for education sessions, including on-site technical support, procuring food and resources, and documenting participation.
  • Help organize and prepare supplies for community events, including Naloxone and fentanyl test strips.
  • Administer program surveys and document sessions for grant reporting purposes.
  • Collect and analyze program data to assess efficacy.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience in health, social services, or community outreach is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, with a focus on culturally competent communication and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience in health communication, community outreach, or training.
  • Familiarity with community resources and local support networks.
