Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at St. Luke's Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fills medications from computer-generated labels and demonstrates ability to answer telephone/window and deal with visitors to pharmacy appropriately.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, labels products appropriately, and takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves, and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
  • Inputs patient data medication orders into a computer system, prepares medications, packages medications for dispensing and delivery, and communicates with nursing center personnel and other customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction, maintains confidentiality of hospital information, and addresses co-workers, nurses, and other in a pleasant and cooperative manner.
  • Performs routine activities with minimal supervision, offers to provide additional help when needed, participates in training of new employees, and maintains knowledge of Data Entry experience.
Requirements
  • National certification preferred, 3-5 Years Retail Pharmacy experience required.
  • Professional demeanor, ability to respect confidentiality of patient data, strong communication skills, and knowledge of pharmacy insurance plans and plan rules.
  • Courteous attitude, understanding of medical terminology and calculations, ability to type at least 35 words per minute, knowledge of computer operations, and knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
Working Conditions

The Pharmacy Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, standing and walking for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ideal candidate will have good physical and mental health, neat, clean, and free from body odors, and conform to the uniform code.

The functional capacity to perform heavy work includes the functional capacity to perform medium, light, and sedentary work. Physical stamina for standing, walking, turning, stooping, bending, climbing, stretching, and lifting in the provision of job responsibilities. Finger and hand dexterity necessary to handle office equipment, visual and auditory acuity required to provide job functions.

Inside - Office environment, Outside - Traveling to office errands in extreme cold and heat, wet and/or humid conditions, snow, ice, and/or fog Hazards - road and driving.
